On Wednesday evening, June 1, 2016, the Brooklyn Region friends and supporters of Emunah gathered in support of the organization, and to honor “Emunah’s Men of Distinction.” The event, which was held at the Kingsway Jewish Center in Brooklyn, annually draws a large crowd to celebrate with the dynamic Brooklyn volunteers and the honorees.
This year the men behind the work of “Emunah’s women” were recognized—each man a staunch supporter of Emunah. The honorees were: Mitchell Kaplan, Rubin Margules and Dr. Leon Reich. Emunah recognized them for their ongoing support, their generosity and their profound commitment to improving the lives of the children and families served by Emunah every day.
The occasion also served as an opportunity to recognize the extraordinary efforts of Selma Halper a”h, with a special memorial tribute. Selma’s unswerving dedication to the children of Emunah is renowned and her passing was a loss to all who knew her.
Funds raised by the Brooklyn Region of Emunah help to elevate the lives of countless people in Israel who rely on Emunah for help. The success of this Region can be attributed to the hard-working volunteers of the Brooklyn chapters: Aliza, Bashy Kimmel, Chevrona, Hadara, Ilana, Lehava, Sarah Herzog, Shanona Bet and Yama.
Supperette Chairpersons were Arlene Fox and Doris Hirsch. Harriet Saperstein served as Reservations Chairperson; Susan Weinstock as Journal Chairperson, and Libby Weisberger as Honoree Chairperson.
